David Brown answered the call to Kirkmont in December, 2007.  He came to us from First Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh, PA, where he was the Associate Pastor and acted Head of Staff for over a year.  David is originally from Scotland where he received his Bachelor of Divinity, Christian Ethics & Practical Theology from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland.  He then went to Princeton Theological Seminary and received his Master of Theology, and is currently working on his Doctor of Ministry with Pittsburgh Theological Seminary.  He was also the Director of Youth Ministries in Plymouth MI from 1995 - 1999, where he met his wife, Loginie. He has also served Christ as a mission worker in Israel and through street missions in his native homeland of Scotland.

David and Loginie have a son and daughter. Loginie is a CPA and they have been busy getting settled in their new home in the Beavercreek area.  David enjoys reading, exercise, and is eager to explore the area’s bike trails. 

The kinds of things she does include working with the Parish program, passing on and following up on prayer requests, coordinating with the pastor and other staff and congregation members about needs, talking with families dealing with crises and with chronic situations, maintaining contact with those who are experiencing health problems and ministering to those who have experienced the loss of a loved one through death. Growing up on a dairy farm in north central Ohio, she was blessed with loving Christian parents, and is the middle sister of two brothers. Her undergraduate degree is from Olivet Nazarene University in Kankakee, IL, and graduate degree in Social Work is from Case Western University, Cleveland, OH. Her work experience is in the areas of health, mental health, and Hospice in Illinois and in Ohio. She has enjoyed every job she’s had, but finds her current position particularly rewarding as it provides the opportunity to interact with people from a clearly Christian perspective. Her very first contact with Kirkmont was when the family moved here and their pre-school age son, now an adult, attended Kirkmont Preschool.

Joan and husband, David, have 3 children and 5 fantastic grandchildren. In addition to the enjoyment of her work and fellowship at Kirkmont, she likes to travel, read, spend time with friends and family, and cross-stitch on occasion. Her latest interest is in learning about dulcimers and the world of acoustic music.

Pat Youther is Kirkmont’s Director of Christian Education. She has served on Kirkmont’s staff since June 1994. Pat grew up in the suburban Chicagoland area and was raised in the Roman Catholic church.

She attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she met her husband, Charlie. Charlie entered the Air Force and the Youthers were off and running. After a brief stint in San Antonio, Texas, at Brooks Air Force Base, they transferred to Tachikawa Air Base in Tokyo. From there they moved to Wiesbaden Air Base in Germany. They returned to the United States and spent three months at Vandenburg Air Force Base in California; while there, their only daughter, Kate, was born. Next they moved to Ellsworth Air Force Base, Rapid City, South Dakota; Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge; and Laughlin Air Force Base, Del Rio, Texas. When Charlie left the Air Force, they moved to Beavercreek, and Charlie works at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base as the Associate Dean of the Logistics School of the Air Force Institute of Technology.Pat’s educational background is as varied as her geographical background. In addition to the University of Illinois, she attended the University of Maryland extension sites in Japan and Germany, Black Hills State College, and completed her Bachelor of Arts in English at Louisiana State University. She received her Master of Arts in Religion from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Deerfield, Illinois. She is a Certified Christian Educator in the Presbyterian Church (USA).

Pat loves coming up with remodeling projects for Charlie to complete. In addition, she enjoys reading, needlework, and scrapbooking.

Amy Vaubel has been the Director of Music at Kirkmont since February, 1992. She directs handbell and vocal choirs, leads the Praise Team, and shares accompanying duties on the organ and piano with Debbie Yanney. She earned her Bachelor of Music degree at Wright State University in 1998 with concentrations in voice and choral conducting. She joined the Department of Music as a Faculty Associate in September, 2000, and finished a Masters in Music Education degree there in the spring of 2001. There she taught applied voice, vocal repertoire class, vocal technique and diction, and directed the Women’s Chorale.

In the spring of 2003, Vaubel left WSU to teach voice privately at home, spend more time at Kirkmont, and with her family.

Amy is the Chorus Manager and Assistant Director of the Dayton Philharmonic Chorus, the pianist for the Kirkmont Shakertown Stompers, and performs with the early music ensemble, Wind in the Woods.

Amy is married to Gail Vaubel. They have two sons, one daughter-in-law, and two beautiful granddaughters.
