Support Our Troops

Again Kirkmont has the opportunity to support our troops in the Middle East and do something for those who defend our country. Chaplain Chris Martin and his troops are now deployed to Afghanistan, and it is our desire to support them with the much-appreciated care packages, as we did last year. Chris has provided a list of such things as food items, toiletries, entertainment, and other items that are not available or are in scarce supply. This list has been provided as an insert to the bulletin. A tub container will be placed in the Narthex on Sundays and also one in the cloak room during the week to receive your donated items. Your full support is needed to make this effort the success it was last year.

The One Great Hour of Sharing

The One Great Hour of Sharing is a once-a-year, special offering in April, that is given over and above our regular tithes and offerings, for the missionary organizations that Kirkmont supports.

Miami Valley Women’s Center

The Miami Valley Women's Center, founded in 1982, exists as a life-affirming, non profit organization that strengthens families by providing practical assistance for pregnancy related concerns by offering everything from pregnancy tests to ultrasounds, training for expectant moms and dads, and support groups. For women who have experienced an abortion in their past, we offer abortion recovery ministry. And for those who have experienced the loss of a child due to miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant death, the Silver Linings group offers support and God's healing. Our abstinence programs reach out into the community touching thousands of young lives every year with the life saving message that saving sex for marriage is the best decision young people can make for their own health, their futures and the well being of the next generation. Gospel Mission

The Gospel Mission, now under the direction of Rev. and Mrs. Kenneth Clarkston, is dedicated to serve Christ in the community, specifically the inner city of Dayton. The Gospel Mission has a very comprehensive plan for the inner city. Christ is foremost in all of the various ministries that are offered. We assist with many needs from clothing, food, hot meals in our free restaurant, education, Joy Clubs, Sunday School, Seniors programs, and so much more. Many volunteer missionary staff positions are available in our ever-growing outreach...and we never close. How you can serve: 1) Ask to be put on our monthly prayer letter so that you can effectively pray for our needs, all of our financial support comes from God's people; no governmental support. God has shown us how to maximize every contribution. Your investment, regardless of size, is very much appreciated. 2) Individual and group volunteers are always needed. Beavercreek FISH

FISH began in England in 1961 when an Anglican priest and a layman started a program where a person in need of anything from food, clothes, and medical attention or just companionship could put the early Christian symbol of the fish, representing Christ, in their window. Beavercreek FISH is a volunteer organization which meets many needs in Beavercreek. Using volunteers and funds from various churches, organizations, and individuals in Beavercreek, FISH provides food and emergency funds to those in need. Although Beavercreek appears to be an affluent area, there are still many needs for the elderly, single parent families, battered women, and people temporarily out of work. Family Violence Prevention Center of Greene County

The mission of the Family Violence Prevention Center of Greene County is to reduce family violence and its impact in Greene County through outreach, prevention, and residential and collaborative community-based programs. FVPC was founded in 1979 and started the shelter in a two bedroom apartment. Since then FVPC has been in several homes. FVPC is now located on Bellbrook Avenue in the new Kathryn Hagler Family Violence Prevention Center. FVPC offers a variety of programs for those people who have suffered at the hands of domestic violence as well as community members. FVPC provides shelter, counseling, crisis response (to both domestic dispute police calls as well as to the hospital), and educational programs to Junior and Senior high school students in Greene County. Habitat for Humanity of Greene County

Habitat for Humanity is a national Christian ministry that builds and rehabilitates homes for low-income families with the goal of eliminating poverty housing. The Greene County affiliate functions with all volunteer labor and tax-deductible donations of money and materials to construct the homes. Each new homeowner family must contribute 300 hours of sweat equity to the program to increase the pride of ownership. The partner family then buys the house for the cost of the materials. Greene County then carries the 0% interest mortgage on the home. Habitat for Humanity of Greene County was founded in 1990. Since its inception we have built 14 homes and are presently working on a house in Xenia and Fairborn.
