New Year Series: Devoting Your Life to God

Round about mid-January, people are just beginning to forget all those New Year resolutions. Now is the time to be committing ourselves to something that is worthwhile and to which we are called – devoting our lives to God. The psalms are a treasure trove for the devotional life. Athanasius, one of the teachers in the early church, said that while the vast majority of Scriptures speaks to us; the psalms speak for us. It is not only a question of how we read the Scriptures – what they lead us to believe, but how we respond to God – what they leads us to do. Some of this helps us in making right choices in our society and world, and some of it opens up our participation in the Kingdom. |
